Part of my "vision"

Of all the "options" that I knew I wanted for this home, I'm struggling with the idea of how it will look when it is completed. Except, I'm completely okay with that because it gives me something to look forward to.

There are some things that have just "clicked" and I know they have to be a part of our home. One, is an amazing shower curtain (albeit super pricey). So mundane, I know.. but it will make the ultimate little boys bathroom. The other is just an overall perfect picture of what I would love to see my home mimic.

It is a home that was photographed by hiya papaya for designer Lindy Allen of Four Chairs Furniture. This home is one of many beautiful homes built by Cadence Homes out of Utah. I could not stop looking through their designs and models. If I were anywhere near Utah, I would hands down choose them. Modern craftsman style homes have my heart.

Unsure of origination on Pinterest
It is a little extremely out of the ordinary in this area to choose a white kitchen, but I am so excited we did. When we were looking to get a home in Wilmington, the one we fell in love with was a modern craftsman with a white kitchen with trim, coffered ceilings, and built-in's everywhere. It was one of the most beautiful homes we had ever seen and was by Bill Clark Homes. Some day, I hope this home of ours can some day mimic that style of that home as well.

After I saw this bathroom posted on Pinterest it gave me the idea for our bathroom. Our previous bathroom was nice.. tan, real tile on the floor and surrounding the shower and soaking tub with brown cabinets and standard white marble top. Except, I could not, for the life of me, come up with a paint color that suited that bathroom. I always found myself dreaming about what it would be like to have a bathroom with white cabinets. Fast-forward 1.5 years and we now have the plans for white cabinets in every bathroom. There's just something about white..

This bathroom above just draws me in. It seems so warm and cozy. The sink in our bathroom will be a standard undermount bowl. But all other features, the cabinets, granite, and tile work will generally be the as close as I could come to the same as pictured. I plan on switching out the mirror and framing in the window of the bathroom when time and money allow.

The shower curtain that I want for Kyptan's bathroom is one that I found on wayfair. It is much more not-so-little-boy-ish than what you would typically put in a bathroom for an three-year-old almost four-year-old. But when I found it, I just knew it would work for us. It fits the tile work of the bathroom which is something that will be timeless no matter what the age. And there is nothing wrong with being a little rebellious and entertaining the rockstar and superhero side of a little boy!

  1. So glad I found your blog! We are building a Naples with Ryan(waiting on permits now) and our kitchens are going to be basically the same! We went with the same cabinets, azul granite, and we will do our own backsplash as well. We went with the mocha java level B floors.

I plan on starting a blog this week, with an 18 month old I'm a little slow! Good Luck to you!

    1. Hey Bridget! So glad to find someone on the same timeline as us! It seems to be very few and far between these days.. :) I hope you all get to start construction soon! I cannot wait for that day.. so for now I will live vicariously through everyone else at this time. :) So excited to see what your kitchen looks like since we will be so similar. I'd LOVE to see your floors when you start your blog, but completely understand what life is like with a young one! You do what you can with the time that you have. :)

    2. We also will have the same tile in the master bath!! I'm pretty excited. I was so happy they had a grey choice because I had convinced myself that I would be stuck in a tan/brown color family. We were so happy about the tile!

We had our finalization meeting yesterday. As long as permits go well we are hoping they break ground in the next two weeks.

I have to say that I LOVE your floor plan. They don't offer that plan in Illinois.

I will start the blog today with pictures. It seems all the blogs I find are old as well. I love looking at them though... Ha ha!

Here's to a quick and painless build!

    3. Bridget - I cannot wait to see the tile in your bathroom! Especially since you are ahead of us. :) But honestly, I completely agree.. there is always tan/brown combinations that you see, never anything different. When we were going through the tiles I just kept bypassing all the tans praying I would find a grey! :) It's been pretty hard to find other developments and even other blogs that have to do with our style home. I don't know if it's because it's newer or what. So glad you guys started the blog! Can't wait for you guys to break ground. So excited for you!

  2. Hi! Just found your blog! Congrats!!! I am literally salivating over your flooring choice for the kitchen! We did base flooring throughout our house with plans to upgrade on our own once the flooring wears, figure I have a few years with the carpet. But I am definitely going to look into a wide plank color like that! Love your floor plan too, they have this layout at a community down the road from ours, just gorgeous. We closed about two months ago but I'm trying my best to keep my blog up with changes after, there is just so much to do! Just added you to follow, good luck! We were extremely lucky and had the most awesome and thorough PM, no issues at all! Feel free to check out my experience on my blog! www.fromphillytoaflorence.blogspot.com

    1. Hi Chrissie! I definitely understand making use of the base flooring until it wears. That is what we are doing with the upstairs level. Our SR kept telling us to use what we are given until it wears out instead of paying extra and I get where he is coming from. It really is the best thing to do! :) That's awesome they have this layout nearby you! It is so incredibly difficult to find around here. We have found 1 community on either side of us about 50 miles away one way and another about 35+ miles away that had this type of home, but only the one had a model.

Congrats on closing!! I bet it was such a relief! :) I'll head on over and check out your home. I'm sure it's beautiful. And it's amazing that you had a good PM. I keep hearing mixed reviews from every blog, but our SR is sure that we will like ours. Fingers crossed! Congrats again!
